Of all the cakes i have tried so far,i guess Madeira Cake is the best for decoration,i tried the recipe of Madeira from my Cakebook.
Recipe Name Madeira Cake

baking temperature 160 degree centigrade
baking time 40 mins
Ingredient needed
225gm all purpose flour
one tsp baking powder
225 gm butter
225gm caster sugar
grated rind of lemon
one tsp vanilla extract
4 eggs
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 160 degree
grease and line 20cm/8inch pan
sift all purpose flour and baking powder and keep aside
Procedure
cream the butter,keep adding caster sugar 30ml/2tbsp at a time until light and fluffy.
stir in lemon rind and vanilla extract
add the eggs one at a time ,beating for one minute after each addition
add the flour mixture and stir until just combined
pour the cake mixture into the prepared tin and tap lightly to level
bake for 40 mins till metal skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
For the decoration,
thing needed
edible silver balls
how i did
slit the cake into two parts
spread fudge frosting and sandwhich both the layers
spread thin layer of royal icing on cake top
followed by sugarpaste icing
with help of marzipan shape out three balloon shape
colour into three different colour
place on the cake top
with royal icing pipe in thread of ballon.
