last weekend we went to pulau ubin for picnic,.. we were going there for the first time,..we were aware that food wont be good there...so we packed picnic basket for the trip,..which consisted of apples,sprouts,oreo,juice,chips and chicken sandwich,we had planned to leave early morning but couldnt as we got up late,.i had done the preparation of sandwhich overnight so morning i had to just make sandwich..but as i was busy doing other chores,..told my hubby to prepare sandwich..which he prepared well...finally we left at 11 ,.took bus for tampines which took one hour from our place and thn from there took ferry for pulau ubin..we were till evening,.hired three in one bicycle for whole day and roamed around the isalnd,..the best part was there were coconut shops,,,so whenever we felt dehydrated we used to drink coconut water,..and there were shelter huts all around the island,..so when advay used to sleep,,we used to rest there...good place togoif you are adventure loving,..by the time we were back we were dead tired..but enjoyed a lotz,..the pics of the trip
the recipe for chicken sandwich
ingredients
boiled shredded chicken one bowl
cheese spread
salt to taste
pepper to taste
tabasco garlic pepper sauce
tomato sauce
procedure
remove the edges of bread
apply cheese spread on one side of the bread apply tomato sauce
heat half tsp oil
fry chicken for a minute add tabasco garlic pepper sauce,salt and pepper add the chicken mixture in between the prepared bread
wrap each sandwich in individual napkin
best for picnics so named it "PICNIC CHICKEN SANDWICH"

SHORSHE BATATA MAACH ( FISH WITH MUSTARD AND CHILLI )
the day i prepared this recipe,..we were back from some outing..after relaxing for few minutes...browsed through the book ' THE CALCUTTA KITCHEN ' by simon parkes and udit sharkel,..this recipe was the second recipe under fish section..easy to prepare thought of preparing this,..nd prepared in less then an hour tasted good with plain rice...a bit hot,..but both of us loved "shorshe bata mach".
ingredients are
two tbsp each of brown and black mustard seeds
600ml warm water
four medium fresh green chillies
600gm indian herring with skin scaled or skinless boneless cod or halibut
two tsp turmeric
salt to taste
four tbsp mustard oil
half tsp onion or nigella seeds
procedure
soak the mustard seeds in athird of warm water for 20 minutes,add two of the chillies,roughly chopped and blend to smooth paste.
cut the fish into small pieces and rub in salt and turmeric gently
heat mustard oil in wok,add fishes and fry till they are crispy and browned,this should take 6 to 8minutes,keep aside
in the same wok add onion seeds,fry for thirty minutes,add mustard chilli paste,with the remaining turmeric,cook for a minute,add fishes,followed by warm water,chillies and salt to taste
simmer for 5minutes,turning the pieces of fish
enjoy with hot rice

today while chatting on gmail with lakshmi,..got introduced to the comic strip thing,..and now really enjoying..this one goes for the cooking with brinjal theme,..i think this event will be enjoyed a lot,..cause at the end of the day everyone wants to laugh...just trying my bit to get smile on my friends face Hope i succeeded,..
