It’s funny where a dream can take you and that’s what happened today. I woke up with the image of a halwai shop from my hometown. In my mind I know I will be able to travel there sometime in 2023. But the image of the shop and the delicacies kept playing in my mind. So thanks to that dream samosa had to be cooked at home if it was some other snack I could have easily ordered from somewhere.
But the filling is important for us and I know that familiar taste I can only recreate at home or go to my hometown which for now looks impossible to me.
So it was announced at home that I am going to cook samosa, someone was happy that it won’t be the ready to eat one. Samosa from scratch is a big thing for me and in my home. Someone quietly helped me make the same so in a way it became a family activity. The crust could have been more crispy but the sight of it paired with tamarind chutney and adrak chai was a therapy for our soul..and for me this was Allahabadi Samosa. Also the name of hometown is something else now but for me it’s still Allahabad.
