bread pizza with potato french beans sabzi

I prepared this for two reason

reason no 1 had to finish off the leftover potato and onion french bean sabzi
reason no 2 i was really hungry and i couldnt think of anything eles that time
this is how i did
on a slice of bread placed the leftover onion and french bean sabzi ,sprinkled some mozarella cheese,pinch of italian herb and few drops of ketchup
kept in preheated oven for 5 to 7 minutes
thats all :-)

Orange Ginger Shortbread Cookies from Ecurry

Life is not the same now,with the daily grind of chores,cooking,managing Advay and so many other things i am trying my best to balance things here,..:-) whenever i get time for my own i try to do things which make me happy one of which is try new recipes from your blog dear friends ;-)
coming back to todays post tried CookOrange Ginger Shortbread ies from Somas space,

she has shared beautiful pictures of the cookies in her blog.My pictures are not that good,but i am so glad that i tried the cookies,i really wanted to taste cookies flavoured with ginger and orange just the name of the cookies was the driving force for me,..:-) so one noon when Advay was taking his noon nap ,i baked these.

Ghar wala Chicken curry ,Barish wala chai pakoda or Mallika ka Miss Masala

How do you feel when you go to library and see book of someone whom u know staring back at you  from the rack waiting to be picked up,no guys i am not talking about Sanjeev Kapoor or Tarla Dalal,i am  talking about our very own Mallika Basu of Quick Indian Cooking ,since the day i have started blogging i have been following her blog ;-) I am in luv with her writing and her simple and yum recipes .So today when i saw Miss Masala in the indian cook book section together with other known food authors i felt so good,i ahve just turned few pages ,book is awesome ,just looking at it made me feel so good u guys can imagine,...:-)

Coming back to todays post two days back prepared this simple chicken curry ,this recipe is very simple guys and takes hardly half an hour to prepare,while chopping onions and tomatoes i didnt ahd any recipe in my mind,i just wanted to prepare some chicken curry with rice,..and i am so happy that i didnt try anything fancy for this recipe,..:-) or it wouldnt have tasted that yum i know,..;-) while eating this i missed my sisters as this chicken curry reminded me of the sunday meal during our childhood days,.:-)

Recipe name ghar wala chicken curry
Ingredient
chicken pieces 250gm
green chili one finely chopped
garlic clove two (thick one)
ginger one inch finely chopped
onion four chopped
tomato one chopped
mdh chicken masala two tbsp
salt as per taste
oil to cook
bay leaves two crushed
cumin seeds one tsp
dried red chili two
black cardamom two
black pepper two
Procedure
In a non stick wok heat one tbsp oil
lower the flame and add chopped ginger ,garlic and green chili
keep frying add onions and fry till the onions are done
now add tomatoes ,salt and chicken masala mix everything together
keep stirring till oil is seen along the sides
now add chicken and fry for five minutes
remove from flame and keep aside
In a pressure cooker heat haf tsp of oil
add cumin seeds,bay leaves,dried red chili,black pepper and cardamom
once it starts spluttering lower the flame and fried chicken
mix everything together ,add hlaf cup of water
and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
Serve hot with rice,..;-)

Eggless Blueberry Muffins and the jinx ends,..:-)

I thought blueberries are jinxed ,i can never bake something perfect with these ,but then  i was all wrong ,
when i tried the recipe of Eggless Blueberry Muffins from Trying Our Best Blog i got the perfect muffins,i followed her recipe without any change ;-)

Fusion Thali ,Rakhi Thali and Platter of Idli with mixed veg sambhar

Its been so long since i published a post with thali , few days back prepared Ajwain Paratha paired it with alloo parwal bhujia,bhindi fry and begun bhaja from tongueticklers.I know thali is incomplete without dal and rice ,prepared Chana dal the same way my mother prepares and lemon rice .

Sharing with you all recipe of  Bhindi Fry,Alloo Parwal Bhujia and Chana dal.
Recipe name Bhindi Fry
Recipe source my mother
Ingredient
Okra/Ladysfinger/Bhindi - 200gm
onion one chopped
green chili one chopped
salt as per taste
oil to cook
cumin seeds half tsp
turmeric powder pinch
red chilli powder pinch
Procedure
Heat oil in non stick wok
add cumin seeds once it starts to splutter
lower the flame and add green chili and onion
keep frying till the onions are done
add chopped okra followed by salt ,red chili powder and turmeric powder
mix everything and cover and cook on low flame
keep stirring till the okra is done.
remove from flame and serve warm with dal chawal.
Recipe Name Aloo Parwal Bhujia/Stir fried potato and pointed gourd
Recipe source my mother
ingredient
parwal 200gm chopped lengthwise
potato one sliced lengthwise
onion sliced lengthwise
green chili one sliced lengthwise
cumin seeds one tsp
oil to cook
salt as per taste
red chili powder half tsp
turmeric powder pinch
black pepper powder pinch
Procedure
In a non stick wok
heat oil and once hot add cumin seeds
followed by chopped onion and green chili
keep stirring once the onion is done add potato and parwal
mix everything and salt ,red chili powder,turmeric powder and black pepper powder
keep stirring for few minutes and cover and cook .
Recipe Name Chana Dal
Recipe source my mother
Ingrdient
chana dal one cup
salt as per taste
turmeric powder pinch
for tempering
fennel seeds one fourth tsp
dried red chili two
bay leaves two
coriander powder half tsp
sugar pinch
grated ginger half tsp
ghee one tbsp
coconut powder three tbsp
Preparation
pressure cook dal and keep aside
Procedure
heat ghee in non stick wok
lower the flame add fennel seeds ,followed by ginger ,red chili and bay leaves
stir for a minute and add coriander powder,sugar and coconut powder
mix everything together and temper dal with this mixture
serve warm with chawal and veg curry.
Talking of books Just finished reading Bodysurfing by Anita Shreve liked the book alot  couldnt keep its down even for a minute , :-)

Rabdi with fresh blueberries

Its not the first time i prepared Rabdi
,i have prepared this delicacy numerous times and everytime i prepare this i become so nostalgic,i start missing my mother ,my hometown and so many other things,back at home this is never prepareds ,because this delicacy is available at most of the sweet shops/also known as Halwai ki dukan ;-)
its the craving for Rabdi which always forces me to prepare this so this time when i prepared this i thought of having this with fresh blueberries,

Dinner Roll from Raks Kitchen

Morning was not feeling good,blamed it to the rain,as i woke up with running nose and swollen eyes,had to eat medicine so thought of quick breakfast of butter toast and coffee,did me good,:-) as the weather is  quiet pleasentt  today  went for walk and soon it was time to fetch Advay,came back fresh and saw this recipe of

Garlic Bun in Raks Kitchen blog,who had tried from My Singapore Kitchen blog, now i had to try this today
ya i was bit scared as i am still not used to of the new oven ;-( and i am so glad i did,my buns turned out to be more like dinner rolls ;-(

i didnt do any topping as i just wanted plain ones  to have with hot rasam which my neighbour has  sent me no guys i didnt tell her that i was sick in the morning :-)
Thanks a ton Raks Kitchen and My Singapore Kitchen for posting this,maybe next time this will look more like bun,.:-)

Pasta in Vodka Sauce

Whenever i run out of recipes idea all i have to do is bloghop,i have been following Pink Little Cake Blog from quiet a long time ,she mostly blogs about cake and cookies :-) but when i saw the recipe of

Pasta in Vodka Sauce i knew i had to try this
For the tomato sauce i followed the same recipe as given in her blog ,  ,kept some separate for advay and then added vodka,cream and mozarella cheese.
Paired pasta with garlic toast ,meal was yum.
for garlic butter mix butter with garlic and italian herbs .
spread on bread and toast till brown from both sides.
Variation - omitted the use of celery
                   have added capsicum
                   instead of parmesan i have used mozarella cheese
                  didnt use fresh basil leaves instead have used italian herb

Soya Nugeeta nd green pea pulao with bit of parenting woe

Its 5pm here ,just prepared Rajma from Chefinyou for Dinner,its tea time so i am enjoying my cup of tea ,

weather is pleasent today so with everything perfect i thought of writing down this post so peaceful na,just an hour r by 6pm Advay will be awake and i will be sitting with him for daily study session,ya guys this is the new thing which is added to my daily routine,since past one week i have been doing this or my three yr old kid wont study.

Whenever i sit with him for his daily lessons i am reminded of my parents,how difficult it would have been for them to look after me and my two younger sisters.Patience is the key thing here i know,sometimes it becomes so difficult for me but then i dont give up,because if i give up easily i know it wont be good.Sometimes i have to sit from 2 to 3 hrs continuously just to make him trace on dots,,,,:-(
Coming back to todays post these days i have limited cooking to easy and quick recipes so that by evening i am free .:-)
prepared soya nuggets pulao paired with spiced buttermilk

Recipe Name Soya nuggets Pulao
ingredint needed
Soya nuggets one cup soaked in hot water for 5 minutes and drained
one fourth cup green peas
onion two
garlic clove one (we get thicker one here)
green chili one
salt as per taste
oil to cook
rice two cup
turmeric powder half tsp
coriander powder half stp
clove two
black pepper three
black cardamom two
bay leaves one
cumin seeds one tsp
Preparation
fry the nuggets in few drops of oil and keep aside.
soak rice in water and keep aside
Procedure
heat oil in non stick wok/pressure cooker
add cumin seeds followed by clove,black pepper,cardamom and bay leaves
once they start spluttering add chopped onion ,green chili and garlic.
once onions turn mushy add salt ,turmeric powder and coriander powder.
mix well and keep stirring .
after 2 to 3 minutes add nuggets followed by green peas
keep stirring add soaked rice mix well
required amount of water and pressure cook .
Serve with curd and pickle.
this recipe is adapted from ghar ka khana - Mix vegetable Soya nugget pulao.
i have omitted the use of veggies here and done the cooking in pressure cook

Cheese Paratha with crispy karela fry and cucumber raita

Some random questions are always going on in my mind,
answers to which i gonna get in the coming time ,
some of these questions are silly i know
but then i am desperate to know
Whenever i am alone ,or with thou
some random questions are always going on in mind

i guess this happeens with everyone or its just me ...? ;-)
Coming back to todays post this one is simple recipe of Cheese Paratha

,Advay likes to eat parathas a lotz so i keep experimenting with different fillings.
Follow the same procedure as given for alloo paratha ,for filling i have used shredded mozarella cheese.

Vrat recipe - Simple Potato and Tomato Curry for Shravan Month

Morning when i woke up i could hear the raindrops ,i know it rains here whole year but this month is special one as this month is the holy month of Savan also known as Shravan Mahina  which is dedicated to Lord Shiva ,,this month reminds me of the carefree childhood days,the mela which we used to go every year known as Gudia Mela,heena paste which dadi used to prepare for us,smell of pakodis with tea and so many other things ,now sitting back in Singapore i have to just close my eyes and thik of such days,,and i am left with a smile on my face .I started fasting for Sawan Somvar Vrat when i was in college,and this is something which i do now also :-)

Last monday prepared this simple potato tomato curry which goes well with Kuttu Poori or Samak rice ,recipe is already blogged here ,,,

Soya nuggets with green peas

What makes u happy ? For me happiness
                                    
                                     is sitting with a cup of chai and thinking about all the good things
                                    going for walk alone and enjoying the beauty called life
                                    reading something which makes me smile whole day
                                    listening to some my fav nos
                                    and so many endless things ...:-)
Talking of happiness , i felt really good when i could prepare this semidry sabji the same way my sister prepares,recipe was dictated to me on phone and the rest i had to do,,,Thanks Neha for this one

Recipe Name Soya nuggets with green pea
Recipe Source Neha ( my sis )
Ingredient
one bowl of soya nuggets
two onion chopped
one tomato chopped
one green chili chopped
green pea handful
salt as per taste
oil to cook
turmeric powder pinch
cumin seeds pinch
coriander powder half tsp
garam masala powder one tsp
Preparation
Soak nuggets in hot water for 10 to 15 mins
drain and keep aside.
Procedure
In a non stick pan heat oil and lower the flame
add cumin seeds and fry the drained nuggets and keep aside
in the same pan heat one tsp of oil and add green chili followed by onions
keep frying till the onions change their colour now add chopped tomatoes
followed by salt,turmeric powder and coriander powder
keep frying till oil is seen along the sides
add green peas and fry for two minutes
add nuggets mix well ,followed by few drops of water
cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes
serve hot with chapati.
As this recipe is special for me as this one reminds me of the one and a half year which i spent in Delhi i am sending this one for the event Celebrating Independence Day hosted by Akilas Kitchen,..
