Another festival which takes me afar
I remember going to temple
And the mela and the rides
I remember it all
Morning I told my son
Today its shivratri

Shiva

But nobody told us
We knew there would be Shiva songs
On the street queue before temple
But now things have changed I need
To tell him
And I tell because that's how
Stories are shared memories is made
How can I end this just because
I am not in my country
And this is what your mother had

healthy food for fasting - Chaitra Navratri

Navratri is over ,I like festivals as they add glitz to our normal monotonous days, we prepare good food ,dress up ,deck up our home and in other words add colours to our black and white life. If you have been following my blog you must be knowing what I prepared for the fasting on first day, for the Ashthami fast didn't feel like cooking the whole meal
For breakfast had fried faux nut and chai /tea

 so instead just had fried potato topped with beaten curd and green tea for dinner .

For Lunch
I had got coconut flavoured yogurt which is readily available in the supermarkets here ,just whisked it with the help of spoon and topped it with dried cranberries and blueberries.

Last post I had written a small poem on Ramnavami Festival
 I know my writing is pretty bad so sharing it again here

You are out of reach
And Transcendence
And during festivals
Its sheer joy for us .
As we get to celebrate
The divinity around us.
So thanks for such
Beautiful days
When we are
Engulfed in
Sweet madness
To fast, feast
And celebrate
As it adds
 new meaning
To a normal day.

you feel the pain too - open letter for Advay 11

Dear Advay ,

 

This letter is about the week we were back from India .I was feeling all blue and  glum and whenever I was showing marriage pics to my friends here I would see you peeping and seeing what pics I would be showing ,you would be curious and inquisitive hearing me tell the tales of shaadi and finally you would take phone From me and scroll down the pics and show them your cousin pics
 then I realised that you are having the same pain as me just like I am missing everyone back home you are missing your cousins too ,sorry Advay again I failed you maybe because I feel you are too young to miss anyone but no I was wrong .Just like I look forward to  for the India trip you are excited too and glum too after coming back .SO forgive me Advay for being so naïve and not understanding your pain .

Stranded away from others

Sunrays stream through the window
And then I realise
That today is the day
When I took the first stride.
Some 7 yrs back I stole
Few moments to start this space
And when now I look back
I know what all I have gained.

Loved Januaryhow was it for you ?

Hello Friends,
How was January for you ?
For me it was fabulous finally after such a long time was able to blog continuously without any break didn't read much because I wrote a lot in my blog and on twitter .Wrote some poems too on this blog which can be read here
Started a new series on the blog letter for Advay my son which I am really loving writing  & maybe because now he can read its fun to see his expression when he is reading the letters.
.Have started following some daily prompts for short poems & verses on  twitter which I am loving doing Will be sharing the poems in the other blog soon .Started studying French again and the painting class is on so ya this month has been very productive for me &; a happy one too.

My Tribute and Salute to Col MN Rai

No,I didn't know about Martyred Colonel M N Rai unless I read the news when he was killed by the terrorists, then yesterday when I saw his daughter crying and saluting him in the pics  I was moved to the core I felt the pain and my heart was filled with immense sadness so this is my Tribute to and Salute to him straight from my heart .

My Tribute and Salute

He saw them approaching
With a wintry smile
So it was time to decide
To do or die.
He knew they would
Be seeking release
So he went armed
To slain them all.
He had some
Strings attached
With his family in his heart
But the love for the country
Was greater than all.
So he killed
And was killed
But the war is still on
He is gone forever
And there's pain in our heart.
To keep us safe and warm
In our hone with hearth
He gave his life
With no fear in his mind .
So this is my salute
To you and all
For your bravery
You will be
Always  in our heart.

God in your name
Your children are killed
if they really love you
Why they doing this
To please you
Are you really pleased ?
God in your name ,
They are ready to sin .
If they really hear you
Why can't they hear
The scream and cry
Of those who are killed .
God in your name
How long will this be seen
If they really respect you
Why can't they see
The pain and anguish
Of people suffering .
God in your name
I am praying
Please stop all this
Let there be peace
For all the
Human being .
