On completing 6 years of Blogging.....

I love to blog ,
and I don't want to stop .
It make me relive,
each day with new zeal .


Now that I complete ,
six years doing this ,
I had to write ,
just to revive .

Ya I know its hard to write ,
with so many things on my mind,
still I steal ,
some minutes to do this .


When I am alone ,
free from all chores ,
I love to do this ,
with a smile on my lips
.

Sipping coffee and some music,
gets my brain to think ,
and  then I blog
to share with you folks.


One day when I will read,
alll my thoughts in peace ,
I will cherish reading this ,
as it will make me serene .


Maybe then I will realize ,
this is a joy ride ,
I won't part with this ,
It's a treasure to keep.


Thanks to one and all ,
for getting me so far,
Without your blogs ,
I wouldn't have come so far .


So its a promise to all,
as I love this art ,
I wont ever stop ,
I will continue to blog.

for my son on his Kinder Graduation day

I know there will be a time 
when you will be too old ,
to hold my hand 
and ask me 100 things .

There will be a time 
When I will yearn for 
Those moments 
When you were a kid .

So now I just want to ,
relish each second 
and spend some priceless moments 
with you my dear son .

For I know soon there 
will be a time 
when you will be 
lost in your own world,...

I love it when you ask me ,
mummy can I help you 
when I am busy cooking ,

trying in your sweet ways 
to learn new things.

Or when you suddenly ask ,
mummy what happened 
Why are you sad

or are you angry
just because my brows are up .

I still remember the first day
when we dropped you at the school
the dress which you wore

and the way you looked
with a pony and a book.
It seems as if it was yesterday
when i thought you how to write

and now when you read on your own
I feel how quickly time flies.

It's been four years 
since you started with 
your kinder education

And now when you
 graduate today
I feel as if I gonna
 miss all those fun .

when  we planned
the angry bird
and the bubble party
for your chums.

I know this time is priceless too 
Just like it was yesterday 
So I just want to hold on to the moment 
And wish the best to you today,..:-)

Its gonna be five years


It's gonna be 5 years when I started this
But even today I love doing this
As doing this makes me feel serene
And doing this I feel complete

Penning down my thoughts
With the food stories
I feel as if
Someone's listening to me

Whether I am feeling happy
Or I am feeling down
Blogging has thought me
A lot on its own

So today I just want to
Say thanks to one and all
For listening to my musings
And getting me so far

For this wouldn't have been possible
Without your beautiful blogs
For the beautiful thoughts
On your gorgeous blogs
That's all I wanna say

this is life ,Carry On...


from past few days i have been really busy
and my mind has been clogged with so many things 
busy because i am doing preparation for my sons upcoming birthday
and mind is clogged because i am feeling homesick and nostalgic.
so though one part of me is busy planning for the celebration 
other part of me is missing everyone 
one part of me is listing out everything 
other part of me is  telling me what i will be missing 
one part of me tells me this is life carry on
other part tells me this is life look beyond.
So when my father tells me about  the poem
 which he wrote for my sons birthday 
and when my mother reads it with tears filled eyes 
i could feel the pain they were feeling
 but i had to fake a smile for them 
so that they dont feel my pain 
or how i am feeling
thanks to skype
i feel closer to them everyday
as one part of me telle me this is life carry on 
and the other part tells me this is life look beyond,..
I was elated when  i heard about the marriage
of my cousin which would  be held in two months 
excited because i would be meeting everyone 
and there would be so much fun
three days of festival like celebration
and love,laughter and happiness 
but then i knew i wont be able to make it 
because of the planned trip to oversesas
one part of me tells me its just a marriage
other part tells me to plan the trip ahead
so with tears filled eyes i am planning for the trip
and faking a smile and telling everyone i am so happy
as one part of me tells me this is life carry on
other part tells me this is life look beyond.

today is the day ,...:-)

today when i got up,i had a smile on my face
today is the day i started this space of mine
to document my love for food and cooking
today is the day i started this sweet adventure

which has become a space for me
space for me to take a break
from my daily chores
to document my day to day life
along with food
to share my musings,
and this wouldnt have been possible
without your support friends
thanks a ton friends
this celebration is incomplete
without you all,..

Today Asan Khana turns 4 year old
and i am so glad i started this journey
4 years back,..or i wouldnt have met
such wonderful bloggers
who are full of life,
who make me come back to this space
to read,write and update ,..;-)
and inspire me to go on
i owe a lot to yo friends,..
Today is the day i started this space of mine
and how could i forget to celebrate ;-)

back with memories and lots of other things,.:-)

I know its been a month since i wrote anything,lot happened in the last month which includes  trip to New Delhi ,

i escaped the sudden dip of temperature as weather was quiet pleasent when i was there,this trip was more for relaxing and lazing around ,gorged on these yummy delicacies prepared at home ,

shopped for some knick knacks at  Delhi Haat ,

had some yummy delicacies at Delhi street food festival

and went to G K m block market just for my favourite Palak Papdi Chaat.

Back from India with lots of memories :-)

Hi folks,I m back from India,last two weeks were spent traveling ,

Eating,shopping 

and meeting relatives

Winter memories and Matar Paneer Curry,....

Winters remind me of  Posta Halwa prepared by my mom
Spicy Chicken Curry prepared at our home every weekend
Warm Bowl of Gazar Halwa slowly cooked on Angeethi
and fresh green pea straight from our farm
Because there was a time when green pea was available only during winter,i remember Dadi used to stock green peas and tomatoes ,those were the days.Sharing with you all simple and flavourful curry ,my all time favourite :)

Recipe name Matar Paneer
Recipe source kitchen experiment
Preparation time one hour
Cooking time 30 mins
Ingredient
One cup cottage cheese
paste of two onion ,two garlic and one green chili
pearl onion five
paste of one tomato
green pea one tbsp
salt as per taste
oil to cook
red chili powder half tsp
turmeric powder pinch
cumin seeds half tsp
coriander seed one fourth tsp
black pepper four
clove three
kabab chini four
Preparation
Shallow fry cottage cheese and keep aside
shallow fry pearl onion and keep aside
Procedure
Heat oil in non stick wok,once hot lower the flame
add the whole seeds which are underlined above
let them splutter ,add onion ,garlic and green chili paste
keep stirring till onions start changing their colour
add tomato paste ,red chili and turmeric powder
followed by salt.
keep stirring till oil is seen along the sides.
add pearl onion and let it simmer for few minutes
add requiered amount of water for the gravy
once the gravy thickens add pea and cottage cheese
let it simmer for five minutes
serve warm garnished with coriander leaves.

Inspired from Skype and Cooked at Home - Gazar Ka Halwa

Me - " Should i fry the  grated carrots first in ghee ?
Hubby -  "for what ? "
Me  - " i am going to prepare Gazar Halwa."
Hubby - " Halwa,..? No no leave it , i will prepare . "
Me - " ummm okay,.."
Once milk starts boiling and the grated carrots are in the kadhai,
Hubby-" From where did you get the idea to prepare Halwa , who prepared at home ? "( he knows me so well . and he is so correct ,when it comes to sweet dishes he knows i dont have any interest unless ,.. .)
Me- ( blushing ) " today while talking to Neha on skype she told me that she got khoa and fresh carrots from nearby   farm and she prepared halwa,..so you see and thus i got carrots and ,.."
This was the conversation we had in kitchen few days back,and i was really awed when hubby asked me this question how come Halwa suddenly,.i mean he knows me so well ,..:-)
coming back to the recipe Last year I had shared bowl of Gazar Halwa which Neha my sister  had prepared ,so i had the same recipe in my mind,thus i asked the question of frying the carrots as per her recipe , but hubbys preparation is slightly different

Recipe Name Carrot Halwa
Recipe source Hubby
Preparaton time 10 mins
Procedure two hours
Ingredient
Carrots four ( peeled and grated )
milk one litre
sugar as per taste
ghee three tbsp ( can be altered)
dryfruits chopped almond ,cashew and raisin
Procedure
In a vessel keep milk for boiling on low flame
add grated carrots and keep stirring
cover and leave on low flame
keep checking and stirring in between
so that carrot doesnt stick to the bottom
add sugar and give a good stir
(this gonna take an hour or so)
once the milk is absorbed completely
add ghee and fry the carrots
keep stirring for five to 10 mins
dry fruits can be added while frying
or halwa can be served  topped with dry fruits.
