Its been a while since i baked some cookies
yesterday baked some eggless one
and today the regular sugar cookies
which i decorated with rolled out fondant
Advay enjoyed watching me doing it
even i felt good working with fondant
Recipe name Earth day Cookies/Sugar Cookies decorated with Fondant
Recipe source Joy of Baking
Preparation time one hour
Baking time 5 to 7 mins
Baking temperature 100 degree
DIY for Cookie template is blogged here
For the Cookie Dough
Dry ingredient
All purpose flour two cup
salt one fourth tsp
baking powder half tsp
Wet ingredient
half cup sugar
half cup butter
vanilla essence one fourth tsp
egg one
Procedure
In a mixing bowl whisk the dry ingredients together
In another bowl beat sugar and butter till fluffy
gradually add egg and vanilla essence
add the dry ingredient and mix further till smooth dough is formed
wrap the dough in cling wrap and keep inrefrigerator for an hour
preparation before baking
preheat the oven for for 10 mins at 100 degree centigrade
line baking sheet with parchment paper
keep the rolling pin,cookie cutter ready
Procedure
Roll out the dough on lightly floured surface
or in between parchment paper
lightly flour the template on one side and place on rolled out dough
with help of sharp knife shape out the cookie
keep in fridge for 15 to 20 mins.
bake for five to seven minutes
cool on wire rack.
To decorated things needed
blue and green colour fondant
corn syrup one tsp
sugar cookies
How i did
spread a thin layer of corn syrup on the cookies
place the fondant and press gently
keep aside.

Weekend Meal - Baked Pomfret with Cherry tomato
Fish is not something i like to experiment,
but there are sometimes when i have to
prepared this last weekend
as i was craving to eat fish
since a long time .
Recipe name Baked Pomfret with cherry tomato
Recipe source Kitchen experiment
Preparation time 10 mins
Baking time 10 mins
Baking temperature 100 degree centigrade
Ingredient
Pomfret one
mustard oil two tsp
red chili powder half tsp
turmeric powder half tsp
coriander powder half tsp
salt as per taste
coriander leaves chopped one tbsp
cherry tomato eight
Preparation
prepare a baking dish by applying oil on it ,keep aside
make deep slits on both side of the fish
rub salt ,red chili,turmeric and coriander powder .
keep in fridge for 15 minsdur
Procedure
place the marinated fish in the prepared tray
drizzle mustard oil and coriander leaves
keep the cherry tomato
bake for 10 to 15 mins till done
serve garnished with onion and lemon wedges.

Conchiglie Salad with Beech Mushroom and Sage
While our daily dinner consists of the regular meal like dal,chawal ,chapati and some veggie
Lunch which i share with my son is most of the time something light and healthy
prepared this flavoursome salad with whatever ingredients i had in my pantry
tossed with freshly plucked sage leaves and our meal was ready,.-)
Recipe name - Conchiglie salad with beach mushroom and sage

Ingredient
Cooked and drained conchiglie half cup
handful of beech mushroom boiled and drained
cherry tomato five quatered
green chili one chopped
pistachio one tsp chopped coarsely

Japanese Sugar Rusk with Coffee - perfect way to start the day,
Today i am not feeling good,
but i am hoping that
tomorrows sun will be different one
Tomorrow things will be better

sharing with you all simple platter of Sugar Rusk which i prepared few days back

i followed the same recipe as given at her space,baked at 100 degree centigrade for seven minutes.
,perfect with morning coffee preferably Nescafe for me ,this combo is perfect to start the day ,thats how i start my day with hot mug of coffee and some toasts

Happinees is sharing Meetha Phulki/puchka/Golguppa :-)
Didi - which one you wnat ?
Me - umm i want meetha patta and you ?
Didi - then i will take spicy one and we will share both ;-)
Me - ya then we will eat Karela Papdi too
Didi - dont forget we have to take some for Dadi too
Me - and on return we will pack some kulfi so after dinner we can have on terrace;-)
This conversation is about those summer days
when there were no Malls ,Multiplex,and other High end shopping areas,
when call were made once a week and letter were written to friends and sis
when eating Chaat didnt meant ordering in a posh restaurent with different kind of fillings,
when summer vacation meant cousins at home and endless trips to bazaars for shoping knick knacks like bangles and earring and drinking lassi and eating rabdi
when night were spent sharing stories and playing games on terrace with cousions
when Happiness was sharing Meetha Golgappa :-)
I really miss those days :-( what about you guys ?
Coming back to todays post sharing with you all Platter of Meetha Golgappa
Ingredient
Golgappa
to fill in
spiced chickpea half cup
tamarind jaggery chutney
curd three tbsp beaten
boondi one fourth cup
sev three tbsp
chopped onion one
preparation
recipe of tamarind jaggery chutney blogged here
for spiced garbanzo beans
soak chickpeas for 10- 12 hrs
boil and drain the water
mix salt and chaat masala .
keep aside.
Before serving
arrange the golgappas on the plate
poke a small hole and fill in with
spiced chickpea,boondi
top it with curd and chutney
sprinkle sev and onion
and juste eat it ;-)

Breakfast on Navami - Spiced black chickpea,semolina halwa and Poori
This post is about those carefree days
when navratri meant call from our neighbours
for Kumari Pooja
on the auspicious day of Navami
we sisters would go in group
for the ritual .
On return each one of us
would be given
small paper plate with
poori,chana , halwa
and a red dupatta.
Last year i shared what i prepared at my mothers place on Navami
This year i am sharing what is prepared at my inlaws place,..-)
Kala Chana/Sukhe Chane/Spiced Horsegram
Ingredient
Kala Chana/Bengal gram half cup
cumin seeds half tsp
green chili one
ginger minced one fourth tsp
salt as per taste
oil to cook
turmeric powder pinch
red chili powder pinch
Preparation
Soak the chana overnight
drain and wash and keep aside
Procedure
heat oil in non stick wok
lower the heat and add
cumin seeds,green chili and ginger
fry for a minute and then add
drained chana ,salt,turmeric powder and red chili powder
fry for few minutes add half cup of water
and cover and cook till its done.
serve warm with poori and halwa

Phalahar platter- Buckwheat Paratha with fried potato and Pearl Sago pudding
Tomorrow is Ram Navami
i have fond memories of this day
which i will cherish forever
today being Chaitra Ashtami
prepared this simple platter of
phalahar potato and buckwheat paratha
Recipe name buckwheat paratha/kuttu paratha/phalahar paratha
ingredient
buckwheat flour one cup
potato boiled ,peeled and mashed one
rock salt as per taste
water to knead the dough
Procedure
In a mixing bowl mix everything together to smooth dough
divide the dough into equal sized discs
keep the disc in between plastic sheet
and roll out with help of rolling pin.
keep tava on burner,lower the flame and
coo on medium heat till done from both sides.
serve warm with phalahar alloo and curd.
Sago Kheer/Pearl Sago Pudding
Ingredient
pearl sago half cup soaked for 10 mins and drained
water half cup
milk one and a half cup
sugar half cup( or as per taste)
saffron strands pinch
green cardamom crushed one
chopped nuts - almond,cashew,pistachio and chironji two tbsp
Procedure
Cook pearl sago in water for five minutes
add milk and keep stirring
once the milk starts boiling add sugar,chopped nuts
saffron strands and crushed cardamom.
keep stirring till the sago pearls get cooked
serve chilled .

Specially for Advay inspired by FB - Eggless Chocolate Cake with Cookies and Cream Icing.
I didnt bake this for myself
this one was baked for my son
as he was craving for one since past few days
but this one was truly luved by me too
truly enjoyed mixing,baking,decorating
and the last part eating this one
with Moroccan mint tea.
it was bliss,....:-)
What inspired me to bake - Chocolate cake pic which Sowmya has posted on her FB page.
Recipe inspired from Chow times and Daily Girl Blog.
Original recipe calls for three cup of flour,have altered the quantity of ingredient.
this is how i baked and frosted the cake
Recipe name - Eggless Chocolate Cake with cookies icing
Preparation time 15mins
Baking time 20 mins
Baking temperature 100 degree centigrade
Ingredient
Dry ingredient
Cake flour one cup
Cocoa powder two tbsp
salt one fourth tsp
baking powder one tsp
Wet ingredient
water water half cup
oil two tbsp
sugar half cup
vanilla essence one fourth tsp
vinegar one tsp
Preparation
preheat oven to 100 degree centigrade
prepare a cake tin and keep aside.
Procedure
In a mixing bowl whisk all the dry ingredients and keep aside
In another mix all the wet ingredients
add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredient
mix to form a smooth mix
pour in the prepared cake tin
bake for 15 to 20 mins.
For the Cookies and Cream Icing
(have altered the quantity of ingredient as per my need)
Ingredient
one fourth cup of sugar
half tsp vanilla extract
one tbsp unsalted butter
one tbsp cream cheese
crushed oreo cookies two
coloured wild flower shaped sprinkles.
Procedure
In a mixing bowl mix butter,sugar,cream cheese and vanilla .
beat till it attains spreading consistency
spread over cooled cake
sprinkle with cookie crumb and sprinklers.

Cottage cheese salad with purple basil leaves
Last week was preety hectic
prepared this simple salad
from freshly plucked basil purple ruffles leaves
from my herb garden
Recipe name Cottage cheese salad with basil leaves
Ingredient
cubed cottage cheese
tomato half chopped
cucumber chopped
salt as per taste
black pepper pinch
leaves of purple basil 5 to 6
extra virgin olive oil
procedure
in a mixing bowl ,toss everything together,
keep in refrigerator till the time of serving
serve chilled.

Some random musings and Prawn Curry
Its been so long since i updated this space of mine,
had been to this place for few days,..-)
now that i am back relaxed and rejuvenated
thought of sharing with you all my ramblings
what went in march -
celebrated 3 yrs of blogging with Cappucino cupcakes with Baileys Frosting
learnt to prepare Ghujia on my own ( when u prepare alone then u know )
tried something from my Nanis Kitchen - Aloo Kachodi
finally i have my own herb garden :-)
tried sewing and this is what i stitched
Whenever i go for break,after coming backs it takes one or two days for me to come back to the normal routine,does this happens with just me or with everyone else i dont know ,yesterday tried to prepare this simple prawn curry,i am very bad with seafood,so i didnt want to add to many ingredients,this curry is very simple and gets prepared in jiffy,i never thought this one would be delicious but when hubby told the curry was really good i thought of sharing with you all,..btw i prepared this one when i was in no mood to cook,had to cook something to eat thus you guys can understand :-)

onion one chopped coarsely
tomato one chopped coarsely

garam masala powder one tsp
coriander leaves chopped one tsp

devain prawns and keep aside
Procedure

followed by chopped green chili and onion
keep frying till the onions turns mushy
add tomato and salt,red chili,turmeric and coriander powder
keep stirring till oil is seen along the sides
add prawns and fry for 5 mins
add half cup of water and cover and cook
once done sprinkle garam masal powder and coriander leaves
let it simmer for five minutes and remove from flame
serve warm with plain rice.
